Derby County defender Curtis Nelson says there's always been the belief within the squad that they could go on an impressive run of form like the one they currently find themselves on.

The Rams are on a five game winning streak in Sky Bet League One, one that has unsurprisingly got the team in high spirits.

Speaking to RamsTV, Nelson previewed the return to league action on Saturday when Wycombe Wanderers head to Pride Park Stadium (3pm kick-off).

On the squad being tight-knit...

I think we've had the togetherness from the beginning of the season, to be honest. We obviously went out to Spain during pre-season but in football time is quite limited. To have the Christmas night out last weekend was good.

We were missing one or two of us in Spain back in July, but I think that's where the majority of us bonded. Spending time together on and off the pitch is always good and we've got a good school right now on Call of Duty, so that's taking up some time in the evening!

On the mood in the dressing room...

The mood is good. I wouldn't say we're over confident, but we're in a good place mentally and physically and it's key that we keep going.

On the belief in the squad...

There's always been the belief, it's just been a case of getting on a run. Once we got the first back-to-back wins at the start of this run, that was the real catalyst for it.

On Saturday's clash against Wycombe...

Every team brings a different challenge. It's important we go into the match against Wycombe on Saturday with the same mindset as we did at Leyton Orient. We're in a good place but it's important that we always turn up and we always perform.

On how things are going for him...

I'm happy with how things are going. It's good to be playing so many games. You just have to keep yourself fit, look after your body the right way and do the right things to make sure you're available for selection week in and week out.
