Derby County youngster Dajaune Brown is eager to make the most of his loan stint at National League side Gateshead.

The 18-year-old striker, who penned professional terms last summer, is set to spend the remainder of the campaign with the Tynesiders to gain valuable first-team experience after moving on a youth loan last week.

Brown has been in excellent form at Academy level this season, scoring six times in nine appearances for the Under-21s in Premier League 2 as well as being a regular on the scoresheet in both the Central League and Central League Cup with eight in just four appearances.

He has also scored six times in six appearances for the Under-18s in the Under-18 Premier League, Premier League Cup and FA Youth Cup combined.

Brown has also featured on the first team scene this term, featuring five times for Paul Warne’s side in total. He made his first senior start in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy Group Stage win over Wolverhampton Wanderers Under-21s in November.

He will now look to make an impact at Gateshead and he came off the bench to make his debut for the club in the final 13 minutes of their 2-1 home win over Barnet on Saturday.

Speaking about his loan move, Brown said: “I feel I can gain a lot of different things from a loan like this.

“Obviously, it is men’s football now and it is different to age groups I’ve been playing in for the Academy recently.

“I want to try and challenge myself here. Hopefully I can settle in quickly and bring my game, as well as hopefully score a few goals.”

He added: “I’ve been training with the first team at Derby and I’ve been on the bench a few times, but I’ve mainly played for the Under-21s this season and a couple of times for the Under-18s.

“I was meant to come (to Gateshead) a bit earlier but I was on the bench for Derby, so we had to delay it for a while.”

Next up for Gateshead and Brown is a trip south to face Southend United on Saturday at Roots Hall (3pm kick-off).
