Donations are being accepted to fund a headstone for former Derby County player Archie Goodall.

Goodall made 424 first-team appearances for the Rams, and scored 52 goals, between 1889 and 1903.

His appearance record proudly places him ninth in the club’s all-time appearance holders list and he played 151 consecutive league matches between 1892 and 1897.

He also appeared for Ireland on the international stage, winning ten caps.

His brother, John, also played for the club and achieved over 200 appearances between 1889 and 1899 and he represented England.

Goodall passed away at the age of 64 in November 1929 and his grave is currently unmarked at Nottingham Road Cemetery in Derby.

Local historian Kalwinder Singh Dhindsa has set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds towards a new headstone for the grave.

Derby County supporters are being welcomed to donate where possible.
