Derby County Under-21s forward Charlie Lindsay has joined Northern Irish side Glentoran on loan for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.

Lindsay, who joined the Under-21s last summer after leaving Scottish outfit Rangers, completed the formalities of the switch on Friday.

The 19-year-old began his career with the Glens and became the club’s youngest-ever player when he made his debut as a substitute in a County Antrim Shield game against Ballyclare Comrades in September 2019 at the age of 15, five months and 24 days.

Lindsay, who can play out wide or in an attacking midfield role, was a regular for Rangers’ B Team in the Lowland League during the 2022/23 season after arriving at Ibrox in 202.

He scored 12 goals and picked up six assists from 33 outings last term, as well as registering further two goals and a single assist from five appearances in the UEFA Youth League.

After joining Derby in the summer of 2023, he has featured seven times in Premier League 2 this season and also appeared in the Under-21s’ Central League and Central League Cup campaigns.

Lindsay has also been capped for Northern Ireland at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 level.

He has joined fellow Under-21s team-mates Lewis Ridd (Mickleover FC), Harry Evans and George Nunn (both Barwell FC) in being out on loan, while Kwaku Oduroh, Alex Gibson-Hammond, Owen Oseni and Jack Bates have recently returned from spells out on loan in non-league football.
