Derby County fell to a 2-1 defeat to Charlton Athletic on Tuesday evening in Sky Bet League One.

Eiran Cashin had put the Rams in front in the first-half but two second half goals from the visitors turned the game around and ensured the points went back to The Valley.

Key Moments

A battling start to the game saw the Rams edging things in the early stages. Kane Wilson got in behind down the left but was unable to find anyone with his cut-back and Ryan Nyambe struck an effort from long-range but it wasn't enough to trouble Harry Isted in the Charlton goal.

Korey Smith was inches away from finding an opener on his return to the starting line-up when he let fly from 25-yards but his shot fizzed just wide of the post.

The visitors then went close themselves with their first attempt of the evening. Panutche Camara was awarded too much space to drive into and he let fly but was denied by the outstretched arm of Joe Wildsmith.

Derby took the lead just prior to the break through Cashin. Nathaniel Mendez-Laing's pinpoint corner found the head of the defender who came steaming in beyond his man to flick beyond Isted.

The first chance of the second period fell the way of the visitors when Daniel Kanu hooked a cross-shot over the head of Wildsmith but fortunately it dropped wide of the post.

Substitute Chuks Aneke nearly scored with his very first touch for the visitors when he headed a flick-on from a corner onto the cross bar from six-yards out.

But it was another substitute that levelled the game with just over an hour gone. Kanu burst down the right and was taken out by Wildsmith in the area and the referee had no hesitation about pointing to the spot.

Alfie May stepped up and made no mistake, firing his spot kick into the bottom left corner.

And Charlton completed the turnaround with 10 minutes remaining. The visitors picked up a loose ball in the middle of the park and sent Kanu through down the right. Wildsmith denied the forward brilliantly one-on-one but Karoy Anderson was in the right place to slam home the rebound.

Eight additional minutes were signalled but it wasn't enough for the Rams to salvage anything from the game as we fell to defeat on home soil.
