Derby County Under-21s ended their three-game losing streak in Premier League 2 thanks to a 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion Under-21s on Monday afternoon.

A first half goal from defender Keilen Robinson was enough to secure the win for Jake Buxton's side on the road and cement a welcome three points.

The Rams were on top for much of the first period and nearly took the lead through Tony Weston, but the forward was denied by a smart low save from the Baggies' goalkeeper.

They didn't have to wait long to take the lead though and did so through Kei Robinson, who was able to capitalise from close-range after the hosts had failed to clear a corner.

West Brom were much improved after the break and goalkeeper Jack Thompson had to be at his best to deny both Layton Love and Akeel Higgins in quick succession.

Buxton's men continued to look threatening on the break however and should have killed the game off when Lennon Wheeldon got in behind the home defence in the dying stages, but the forward blazed his effort over the bar with just the goalkeeper to beat.

The hosts continued to push as the match entered additional time but the Rams stood tall to see the closing moments out in a professional manner and secure a big three points on the road.
