Academy graduate Eiran Cashin says Derby County’s promotion back to the Sky Bet Championship is a fitting reward for the club’s loyal fanbase.

Derby sealed automatic promotion from League One with a 2-0 home win over Carlisle United on the final day of the 2023/24 season before a packed Pride Park Stadium.

The promotion is the first of Cashin’s career following another successful campaign at the heart of the Rams’ backline - and it was a moment for him and his family to savour.

At the age of 22, Cashin has many years ahead of him in the game, but he was understandably emotional to achieve success for the first time in his career with Derby having come through the youth ranks.

Derby’s fans have followed Paul Warne’s side in large numbers throughout the season, both on home turf on the road, to help play their part in pushing the team on to enjoy great success on the pitch.

Speaking to RamsTV, after the game Cashin said: “There are so many emotions and it is hard to put into words.

“It has been a long season with its ups and downs, but we are buzzing to get it over the line and be promoted.

“We’ve been on a bit of a rollercoaster in recent years, but thankfully we are on the up now.

“The fans have been amazing all season, they’ve followed us home and away and covered so many miles to support us.

“They’ve given us their backing no matter what and we’re so happy to get this done for them.”

He added: “Everyone has played such a massive part in this season and we’re really excited for next year.”
