CLUB NEWS: Rams To Introduce ‘Walk of Fame’ To Recognise Club Heritage

Derby County are to continue to pay tribute to individuals that have played a key part in the club’s long and proud history in the lead-up to the 2025/26 campaign.

Since the purchase of the club by Clowes Developments (UK) Ltd in the summer of 2022, various heritage projects have taken place at Pride Park Stadium.

These include the Moments that Mattered posters, selected by supporters, which are on display in the players’ tunnel, the Memorabilia Exhibit in Harrison’s Hub and the introduction of Legacy Numbers for all those players that have represented the Rams in a competitive match.

The latest phase of the continuing work will be the installation of a Walk of Fame on the exterior of Pride Park Stadium, recognising the efforts of former players, managers and other key individuals.

This will start on the exterior of the East Stand next to the turnstiles and, in time by adding more individuals on a yearly basis, be extended to the North Stand.

Several key figures have already been honoured in different ways around Pride Park Stadium in the form of Brian Clough & Peter Taylor, Steve Bloomer, Lionel Pickering, Reg Harrison, Roy McFarland, Dave Mackay, Gordon Guthrie and Igor Stimac and they will automatically be inducted onto the Walk of Fame.

However, supporters are being invited to nominate other names to be placed on the Walk of Fame in the first phase of the project.

Nominations can be placed via an online form by clicking here until Sunday 20th July for the first round of inductees and the club will confirm the names prior to installation.

The installation will then take place ahead of Derby’s first home fixture of the 2025/26 Sky Bet Championship season on Saturday 16th August against Coventry City (12:30pm kick-off).

Derby County’s Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Pearce, said: “We have been talking internally for some time about this phase of the heritage project and having something similar to a Hall of Fame for Derby County.

“We wanted to have it in a location at Pride Park Stadium that our fans could access easily and, after reviewing a number of options, this one made the most sense.

“We have also been keen to make sure supporters have input into names being added to the Walk of Fame. While there are some that automatically stand out, we felt it was important to let the fanbase nominate some of the individuals that they want taking pride of place on there.”

He added: “We want to make this something we add to on an annual basis over the next few years and we’re looking forward to seeing it start to take shape ahead of the new season.”
