Andi Weimann described the ‘brilliant’ feeling after he scored a dramatic late winner to fire Derby County a 1-0 victory against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.

Derby secured maximum points for the first time in the 2025/26 Sky Bet Championship season after a spirited performance on the road against the Baggies and extended their unbeaten run in league action to three matches.
Substitute Weimann’s strike came after 84 minutes of graft from the Rams, who came up against a Baggies team that had started the season in red-hot form, and valiant defending saw Derby hold out and claim the win.
Austria international forward Weimann caught up with RamsTV after netting his first goal since he returned to the club in the summer from Blackburn Rovers.
It feels brilliant. Getting that first win of the season is big for us. Doing it late on, away from home and in front of the fans was amazing.
As a player, you always want to come on a bit earlier (to affect things). However, when the gaffer sends me on, I always think that I can get a chance and, luckily, I got one today and took it.

For Patrick, signing from America and coming over here, it's a big change for him - and then having surgery as well. It was nice for him to come on for 20 minutes or so. He was a bit tired towards the end, but that'll come. It was nice to see him on the pitch and, hopefully, there will be much more to come from him.

They were amazing; I'd known that anyway from when I signed ten years ago - so they're always amazing and travel well. It was nice to get the win in front of them and send them home happy!
