Bobby Clark says Derby County’s focus is firmly set on attempting to end another typically gruelling week of Sky Bet Championship action in a positive manner when they head to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

The on-loan Real Salzburg midfielder has made 15 appearances for the Rams so far this season in all competitions, scoring once in the Carabao Cup Round Two tie at Premier League Burnley in August.
After playing in a variety of attacking roles early in the campaign, Clark has impressed in central midfield in recent weeks with some mature and accomplished performances.

The 20-year-old has contributed towards the Rams’ recent four-game winning run, which started at the end of October with successive 1-0 home wins over Norwich City and Queens Park Rangers and was subsequently backed up at the beginning of November with a 3-1 victory at Sheffield United and Tuesday’s late 2-1 triumph over Hull City at Pride Park.
Ahead of Saturday’s visit to Blackburn in the lead-up to the November international break (12:30pm kick-off), Clark sat down with RamsTV at Moor Farm Training Ground on to assess Derby’s current fortunes.
Both teams were in form going into the game, so we knew we’d be in for a good challenge. I thought we did well in the first half and played some good football. In the second half it maybe died off a little bit, but we dug in and got the three points.

He has obviously been through a hard time with the injury he had. I see him every day on the training pitch and even when he isn’t playing, he is still giving his all and wanting to get better. We were all delighted to see him take his chance. It wasn’t as easy a finish as people may think when the ball comes to you that far out and with an open net. You’ve still got a lot to do, and he did it.

Even before these wins, we were seeing good stuff still, but it just felt like the luck wasn’t going our way in certain situations. It feels like it has clicked now, and we look a really strong team.

Moving into the more central role alongside David Ozoh is something I have really enjoyed. He does stuff I can’t do, and likewise I do stuff he can’t - so it has worked well. It is a bit different playing as a deeper midfielder, but I am enjoying it. I played in midfield when I was younger, but as I have got older, I’ve played a bit higher up the pitch on the wing and centrally. I like the attacking role, but I like being in the middle as it has made me feel a lot more involved in the play there. There is more of a demand to break the play up, too, and it has helped to get a lot of information from the gaffer as I’ve not really played this deep in midfield before.

It has been a busy week, the games come around fast. You must quickly look ahead to the next game and the staff here have everything planned ahead of time, so we know what we are doing. We would love to keep this form going into the international break and if we could make it five out of five, it would be top.
