THE WARMEST of Pride Park Stadium welcomes to Jaydon Banel, who has joined Derby County on loan from Burnley until the end of the season.
The versatile 21-year-old attacker is a product of the famed academy at Ajax, from where he moved to Turf Moor just under 12 months ago.
Banel played against the Rams earlier this season, coming off the bench for the Clarets during August’s Carabao Cup Round Two tie in Lancashire.
He has signed on with Derby for the remainder of this campaign, as John Eustace’s side look to continue progressing and building momentum in the Sky Bet Championship.
Born in Amsterdam, Banel had been with the academy at Ajax since 2012, after he was spotted playing for local club Zeeburgia.
The exciting forward progressed through the ranks at the Amsterdam-based club and became a regular in the youth team during the 2021/22 campaign.
He broke through into the reserve side almost four years ago and provided an assist for the winning goal on his Keuken Kampioen Divisie debut in January 2022.
The forward became a regular fixture in the reserves and was introduced to the first team during a Europa League tie against Marseille in November 2023 - going on to make a total of nine senior appearances for Ajax.
He was awarded a long-term deal at the Johan Cruyff Arena, but the four-time European Champions League winners could not guarantee him playing time, prompting a move to Burnley.
Banel made a brief appearance as a substitute during the Clarets’ 2-0 defeat at Brighton and Hove Albion earlier this month and has played in both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.
Indeed, he came on as a 62nd-minute substitute against Derby earlier this season during the Rams’ Carabao Cup clash at Turf Moor.
Banel has also received international recognition during his time in the Netherlands. He has appeared for the Dutch national side at both Under-18 and Under-19 levels.
