Henry Newton

Derby County are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former player Henry Newton, who has died at the age of 82.

Henry Newton enjoyed a distinguished 16-season career, playing a key role in Derby County’s 1974/75 First Division title triumph and the 1975 Charity Shield victory.

Signed by Brian Clough, he went on to become an important part of the side under Dave Mackay, making 156 appearances for the club. He later went on to play for Walsall before retiring at the age of 34.

The club will be paying its respects at 12.05pm in memory of Henry Newton. We kindly ask all supporters wishing to take part to be in their seats no later than 12pm.

Derby County’s thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.

90s Matchday

The club will also welcome members of the 1995/96 promotion-winning squad to Pride Park this weekend, for Saturday’s fixture against Oxford United.

As part of the celebrations, alongside welcoming the team, staff, and their respective families, the matchday will be ‘90s themed, with the 1995/96 crest, matchday graphics, big screen nostalgia, fan photos, quizzes and archive footage bringing the decade back to life.

There will also be ‘90s-themed family activities in Harrison’s Hub and the North Stand Family Area ahead of kick-off, along with a range of retro confectionery available from Ewie’s Pop-Up Tuck Shop.

Bustler at Pride Park will be embracing the 90s era too, with a themed DJ set before and after the game, as well as special guest appearances post-match. The Bustler at Pride Park Fans’ Park will be open from 10am until kick-off, and again after the final whistle through to 4pm.

All supporters will be required to present a valid match ticket or season ticket upon arrival at the Fans’ Park.

Please note: bag searches will also be conducted.
