Hard Work Continues In Tenerife

There’s no let-up in the workload that Derby County’s players are experiencing in Tenerife – with another double session taking place on Wednesday.

Gary Rowett’s side will be based in the south of the Island until Saturday as part of a week-long training camp in the lead-up to the 2017/18 Sky Bet Championship campaign.

Following double sessions on Monday and Tuesday, the players were back out on the training pitch shortly before 9am today.

The early morning sunshine which greeted the players earlier in the week was replaced by heavy cloud and a cooler temperature, much to the delight of the squad.

The football session followed a similar pattern to the sessions which have taken place in Tenerife already, and were geared around the retention of possession and small-sided teams being given the task of breaking down the opposing side.

What then followed was an intense drill where teams of three outfield players had to score as many goals as possible in a small area over the course of just 90 seconds, and it proved to be a competitive exercise!

After lunch and time to recover in the afternoon, the boots and training kit weren’t required for the early evening session – with a visit to the on-site pool facility on the agenda.

If the squad were hoping for a relaxing dip in the pool to cool down as the temperature rose over the course of the day, they were gravely mistaken.

Instead, they all swam a number of lengths and were certainly feeling the effects afterwards of another demanding workout to conclude the day.

There’s no rest for the wicked though, as the Rams have more hard work to get through before heading home at the weekend…
