Back-to-back away matches separate Derby County from the second international break of the 2017/18 season – with a trip to Brentford first on the agenda!

The Rams head to Griffin Park on Tuesday night ahead of the match, dcfc.co.uk has pulled together all the key information you are going to need to know…

WHAT’S THE LATEST TEAM NEWS?

Gary Rowett is hopeful that Curtis Davies and Tom Lawrence will be fit to keep their place in the matchday squad when the Rams travel to Griffin Park.

The pair are both struggling with minor groin problems.

On top of that, the Derby County manager has suggested that he will make further changes to his starting XI against Brentford.

Sam Winnall could be one of those after he made an immediate impact off the substitutes bench against Birmingham City, whilst Joe Ledley is likely to feature at some point over the next two matches.

WHAT DID THE BOSS HAVE TO SAY?

Speaking to RamsTV ahead of the trip to Griffin Park, Gary Rowett said: “In terms of the two away games coming up, our last few scorelines on the road have reflected far from ideal performances.

“We’ve not done something of the things away from home that we would have liked. They are things that you have to do away from home if you are to get results.

“There will be changes and I said before the home game on Saturday that would be the case. Saturday was an opportunity, off the back of that Hull game, to go again and see if they could replicate that type of performance and they couldn’t due to the opposition really stifling the game.

“Birmingham made the game devoid of space and it made it harder to be more free-flowing. It was also down to our quality.

“Certainly away from home, I don’t want to do the same things and get the same results, so it is going to be up to some players to come into the team and make their mark and do what it takes to improve our performances.”

WHO IS THE PLAYER TO WATCH?

Ollie Watkins has taken to football in the Sky Bet Championship since signing from League Two side Exeter City for an undisclosed fee in the summer.

The 21-year-old penned a four-year contract, with the option for a further 12 months, at Griffin Park and has since scored three goals in 11 appearances in all competitions for the Bees; including one in the 3-0 win over Bolton Wanderers at the weekend.

It comes after Watkins was named the EFL's Young Player of the Year last season after he scored 16 goals in 52 games to help the Grecians reach the play-offs.

Devon-born Watkins made his debut for Exeter in May 2014 and scored a total of 26 goals in 78 appearances for the club.

ONE TO REMEMBER

BRENTFORD 1-3 DERBY COUNTY
Saturday 20th February 2016

Two goals in three minutes helped Derby County return to winning ways as they turned the game on its head to record a 3-1 victory at Brentford back in February 2016.

After David Button had almost single handily kept the Bees level in the first half, Alan Judge struck a sublime opener to leave those connected with the Rams harbouring that sinking feeling again following a run of eight matches without a win.

Their persistence paid off as Jeff Hendrick's finish from a tight angle clawed Derby level before Cyrus Christie’s first goal in Rams colours turned the game on its head.

After a nervous spell, in which a combination of Scott Carson and Jacob Butterfield kept the ball out in injury time, Chris Martin wrapped up the points by finishing off a swift counter-attacking move as the Rams claimed a deserved three points.

Brentford: Button, Colin, Bidwell, Dean, McEachran (Swift, 70), Woods, Kerschbaumer (Canos, 86), Judge, Vibe (Djuricin, 74), O’Connell, Yennaris

Substitutes not used: Bonham, Saunders, Hofmann, Clarke

Derby County: Carson, Christie, Keogh (C), Shackell, Olsson; Hanson (Blackman, 68), Butterfield, Hendrick; Russell (Ince, 77), Johnson, Bent (Martin, 60)

Substitutes not used: Grant, Bryson, Buxton, Camara

Attendance: 10,627 (1,664 Derby supporters)

WHO ARE THE MATCH OFFICIALS?

Andy Davies will take charge of Derby County's 2017/18 Sky Bet Championship fixture away to Brentford on Tuesday evening.

Davies has taken charge of seven games so far this season, producing 23 yellows and no reds.

His last Derby game was the 2-1 away victory at Birmingham City towards the end of last season.

Davies will be assisted by Darren Blunden and Nigel Lugg on the lines, whilst Keith Stroud has been appointed as the fourth official.
