Derby County captain Richard Keogh expects Gary Rowett to continue to demand more from his squad after they extended their unbeaten run to five games with a 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Matej Vydra chipped in with another early goal before Bradley Johnson came off the bench to secure the points late on to make it back-to-back wins for the first time since August.

Keogh believes that Rowett won’t let the Rams rest on their laurels as they look to continue the undefeated streak.

Speaking on RamsTV’s Post-Match Extra on Facebook, he said: “We’re five unbeaten, but the feeling in the dressing room is that there is more to come.

“The manager will demand that from us, so hopefully we can keep improving every week.

“I think we’ve shown good resilience. You’ve got to keep as many clean sheets as you can and to win 2-0 at home, I’ll take that every day of the week.”

The skipper admitted that 10-man Wednesday made it difficult for Derby, and he picked out the key area where the Rams needed to be better after taking the lead.

He added: “We wanted to get off to a good start to follow on from the Forest result and it was a good bit of play, but then we found it a bit frustrating to be honest.

“We kept the ball quite well but they were very, very deep. They put in a very low block and maybe we needed to move it a little bit quicker to draw them out and create space.”

Keogh nearly found himself on the scoresheet in the first half when he latched onto Tom Huddlestone’s through ball, and he admitted that he was more surprised than anyone when he ended up one-on-one with Kieren Westwood.

On the chance, he said: “I don’t know why I made the run to be honest! Hudds played a great ball and I wanted to lift it over him, I didn’t know if I could’ve gone around him.

“I like to try and bring the ball out from the back and start the attacks but I’m not sure I’ll be making third man runs like that any time soon!”
