‘First-Class’ Weimann Is Getting His Rewards

Richard Keogh told RamsTV at the weekend that he is delighted to see Andreas Weimann ‘getting his rewards’ following an impressive return to the Derby County starting line-up.

The 26-year-old Austrian international has scored his first two goals of the season in the Rams’ last two outings – opening his account with a sweet strike in the 3-0 win at Barnsley, before returning to haunt his former club Aston Villa last Saturday.

The weekend’s 2-0 win over the Villans was his sixth successive start since returning to the side last month.

In that time, he has contributed with several assists too – notably against Queens Park Rangers and Barnsley – and his performances have also seen him recognised as Derby’s Man of the Match on a number of occasions.

Keogh, Derby’s skipper, has labelled Weimann’s attitude as ‘first-class’ and says he is just the type of player the Rams are thriving off having in the team.

“Since he has come back into the team, Andi has been fantastic,” he said.

“His attitude has been first-class, and he’s been a really good outlet for us. His work-rate is second to none too.

“He does a job for us defensively as well. Albert Adomah is someone we know is a dangerous player, but Andi doubled up on him and really kept him quiet at the weekend against Aston Villa. He’s a very unselfish player and you need those type of players in your team.

“I’m just pleased that he is getting his rewards now because it is down to his hard work that he is back in the team.”
