Max Lowe has joined Sky Bet League 1 promotion-chasers Shrewsbury Town in a loan deal until the end of the season.

The formalities of the deal were completed this morning – ensuring that the Rams’ 20-year-old Academy graduate is available for selection to make his debut in the Shrews’ Emirates FA Cup Third Round match with West Ham United on Sunday.

The temporary switch is Lowe’s first since breaking into the Derby first team fold last term as the former England youth international racked up 12 appearances for the Rams – a figure that ultimately would have been more but for injury.

Those frustrations have limited his availability this campaign too, but after building up his match fitness with the Under-23s over the last three months, he is now in a position to enhance his first team experience.

Shrewsbury are enjoying a fine season in League 1 and currently sit in the automatic promotion positions just past the halfway point of the season – two points behind league leaders Wigan Athletic, but even more importantly, five ahead of Blackburn Rovers.

Derby County would like to wish Max all the best on his loan move to Shrewsbury.
