Frank Lampard has praised young duo Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori following their call-ups to the England Under-21 side.

It is Mount’s first call up to Aidy Boothroyd’s England outfit whilst Tomori has four caps for the Under-21s already.

Both have excelled in their short time with the club so far after joining on season-loan deals from Premier League side Chelsea.

Mount has netted four goals in eight appearances, while Tomori has been part of a defence that has kept four clean sheets in his opening seven games.

The defender has also scored once for the Rams in the Carabao Cup against Oldham Athletic and the Derby boss is happy to see the on-loan duo recognised by the national side.

“I’m delighted for both of them,” Lampard told RamsTV. “Fikayo has been with the Under-21s before, but he has started really well and he must keep that going.

“He must keep on his game because he has been impressive to all of us and there is more to come from him. It’s a well-deserved call up again.

“For Mason, it is his first call up to the under-21s and it’s well deserved. We all know what Mason has done here and he is getting recognition for that. What he is doing in the Championship and what he is doing here is a big deal.

“I know him and Fikayo are not lads that will let this get to their heads. They will keep working because it’s steps on the ladder and it’s great for them.”

England Under-21s face the Netherlands on Thursday 6th September and Latvia on Tuesday 11th September in the qualification stages of the 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.
