It was cup final heartache for full-back Max Lowe who was on the losing side at Hampden Park this weekend.

A goal deep into first-half additional time from Ryan Christie ensured Celtic lifted the Scottish League Cup on Sunday afternoon, while Scott Sinclair had a penalty saved for the Glasgow giants.

Lowe played the full 90 minutes for Aberdeen but, despite putting in a good performance, he could not help his side defeat the holders of the competition.

Elsewhere, young goalkeeper Matt Yates played the full game for Hereford FC at the weekend and helped his side to a 2-1 victory against Alfreton Town.

In Spain, Nick Blackman came on as a 56th substitute as his Sporting Gijon side beat Tenerife 2-1, whilst Alex Babos was a 68th minute substitute as his side beat Sporting Gijon B 2-0.
