Manager Frank Lampard wants his side to go to St Mary’s Stadium without fear and have belief that they can pull off an FA Cup upset.

The Rams produced a stunning comeback 10 days ago as they recovered from two goals behind to draw 2-2 with Premier League side Southampton in the original Third Round tie at Pride Park Stadium.

As a result, the two sides will meet again on the South Coast on Wednesday evening in a replay to decide who will head to Sky Bet League 1 side Accrington Stanley in Round Four.

Lampard’s side have already beaten Premier League opposition away from home this season in the Carabao Cup, winning on penalties at Manchester United following a 2-2 draw, and he wants his side to face the Saints without fear.

“You have to believe when you go to those places; if not you are half beaten before you start,” Lampard told RamsTV.

“So the no fear factor is us going and believing in what we are doing, believing individually and collectively. We have talent and we have desire to win the game. We have shown we can match anybody.

“The story of the first game was a great one for us. It’s the teamtalk and I don’t actually have to give it. In the first-half we were slightly slow, just going along, the game was like that in itself.

“The urgency was lacking in us. In the second-half we had urgency, we had a bit more aggression and bite in the tackle and a bit more of a forward thrust in us as a team and look what happens.

“You can compete with anyone like that and that is the teamtalk for the lads. I may remind them of that before the game but I think they are well aware of it.”

Southampton have a renewed optimism since the arrival of their new manager Ralph Hasenhüttl.

He replaced Mark Hughes last month and has since picked up some crucial Premier League wins to move them out of the relegation places.

Despite being down to ten men, they ran out 2-1 winners at Leicester City on Saturday.

“They have had a nice bounce, a really good win at the weekend,” Lampard said.

“We saw in the game at Pride Park in the first-half that if you give Premier League teams moments then they have the opportunity to hurt you.

“The new manager coming in has provided an obvious bounce, they are working very hard in a different style of play which I think he has got his teeth in to very quickly because they are pressing can they have much more aggression about them.

“It will be a tough game without a doubt, no matter what team they put out they are going to want to get to the next round. Going to a Premier League stadium, there are going to be lots of challenges for us but ones we should be up for.”

The Rams will be looking to bounce back following Friday’s disappointing 2-0 defeat at Elland Road in the league and he is fully focused on the task in hand tomorrow night.

“I want to get through to the Fourth Round, it is as simple as that,” he commented.

“Yes, we do have a lot of games but I will deal with Saturday's game at home to Reading after this one.

“I will select a team that I feel can get us through because we know that cup runs are good for the club, there’s a good feeling with them, the fans like them and it will be absolutely wrong to go with any other mindset for myself or the players.

“I will pick a team that I believe will go there and win the game. With the strength of the squad here, there may be some changes, but I believe it will be a team that can compete.”
