Derby County earn a point in a six-goal thriller against Brentford at Griffin Park as Jayden Bogle scores his first senior goal.

The Rams took the lead three times with Harry Wilson opening and closing the scoring sandwiching the young full-back’s goal. However, each time the Bees were quick to equalise to keep Derby on outskirts of the top six.

Julian Jeanvier, Neal Maupay and Said Benrahma had the goals for Brentford to earn them a point at home.

Three quick-fire chances built up the Rams’ pressure after an even opening ten minutes for Derby to break the deadlock. Within a minute, Wilson saw a shot across goal saved before the ball bounced through two Brentford defenders to Martyn Waghorn but a tough shot for the forward was cleared after it had beaten the Bees’ keeper.

The Rams pressure continued to build and forced an error at the back for Brentford. Tom Lawrence slipped the ball through to Wilson who conjured up his left-footed magic to give Derby the lead.

The Rams continued to look in control, but a set piece ten minutes later saw the home side equalise. Said Benrahma sent in a corner to the near post for Jeanvier to half-volley past Kelle Roos.

It only took three minutes for the Rams to regain the lead and in the 26th minute Bogle bagged his first senior goal. He worked brilliantly to weave his way inside the right of the box before unleashing his effort into the far corner.

After half an hour, the 18-year-old then looked to add an assist when his perfectly weighted cross was headed by Waghorn into Daniels’ hands. Straight down the other end, Brentford equalised again. A fast break by the Bees resulted in Maupay sliding in to meet a low cross by Rico Henry.

Derby were back on the front foot following the break and soon after almost took the lead again when Mason Mount swung in a free-kick which Fikayo Tomori headed just wide.

One the hour mark the Rams got a big let off when Roos dropped a cross and Ollie Watkins and Maupay’s efforts to get it over the line were stifled.

Ten minutes later, Mount rifled a shot from eight yards from Bogle’s cross which rattled off the post. The lead was snatched back for the third time with 12 minutes left to play. Tomori drove down the centre of the park before playing through to the Welshman and with just the keeper to beat he coolly slotted in his second.

It looked as though the Rams weren’t done in as the clocked ticked down when pressure in the box saw Lawrence played clean through but his close-range effort went wide.

Once again however, the Bees quickly equalised when Sergi Canos lifted the ball over to Benrahma to slip in the sixth and final goal of the game.
