Scott Malone has enjoyed his time back in the Sky Bet Championship - and hopes to finish the season positively with Derby County.

The 28-year-old spent a year in the Premier League last season with Huddersfield Town before making the move to the Rams in the summer of 2018.

The defender has enjoyed a good campaign under Frank Lampard and featured 31 times so far.

He has netted twice, once at West Bromwich Albion and the other against Wigan Athletic at Pride Park Stadium and he spoke positively about his season to date.

“It’s been good,” Malone told RamsTV. “After the disappointment of last season, even though I was playing in the Premier League, I wasn’t playing as much as I wanted to.

“I have come back to the Championship and I have really enjoyed it and to be in the chase for the play-offs again is what it is all about in this league.”

With the end of season in sight, the Rams need four points from their last two games to secure their place in the play-off positions.

The Rams’ current form has put them in a commanding position, having only lost one of their last 10 games.

They have picked up 10 points from a possible 12 in their last four fixtures and have scored 10 goals in that time.

“We had a little bit of a blip not so long ago,” Malone said. “We let ourselves down a little bit, but that always happens in the season, it is a long season with 46 games.

“It has come good again, we have gone on a little run. We have kept undefeated for a little while now and it is about momentum to get into the play-offs.”
