Two Derby County players out on loan faced off against each other over the weekend in Sky Bet League One.

Luke Thomas’ Coventry City took on Jonathan Mitchell’s Shrewsbury Town on Sunday afternoon and the game provided mixed fortunes for both sides.

The 1-1 draw at the Ricoh Arena was good for visitors Shrewsbury as they secured their status in the division for another year, however, the result put pay to Coventry’s slim hopes of reaching the play-off places. Both players played the full 90 minutes.

In the Championship, central defender Alex Pearce kept a clean sheet for Millwall as they retained their status in the division.

The defender played the full game for the Lions this weekend in their goalless draw against Stoke City, and with Rotherham United’s defeat against West Bromwich Albion, the point ensured they would be playing Championship football next season.

North of the border, Max Lowe’s Aberdeen stayed in the race for the European spots despite losing 2-0 at Ibrox against Rangers.

The defender, who played the full game for the Dons at the weekend, saw his side have chances but they were beaten by Steven Gerrard’s outfit.

Elsewhere in the Scottish Premiership, Kyle McAllister came off the bench on the hour mark in a 1-1 draw against St Johnstone for St Mirren.

In the National League, Sven Karic helped Braintree keep a clean sheet in their final league game of the season. Despite already suffering relegation, it has been a good end to the season for Braintree, and a goalless draw against champions Leyton Orient gave them hope for next season. Aaron Eyoma was not involved for the Iron this weekend.

Meanwhile, in the National League North, young goalkeeper Matt Yates could not prevent his side from losing 2-0 in their final game of the season against Boston United.

Nick Blackman came off the bench in the 77th minute for Sporting Gijon as they drew 1-1 at home to Elche on Sunday.

Chris Martin (Hull City), Jacob Butterfield (Bradford City), George Thorne (Luton Town), Timi Elsnik (Northampton Town) and Jauvan Splatt (Mickleover Sports) were not involved for their loan clubs at the weekend.
