Derby County’s Luke Thomas has joined Sky Bet Championship side Barnsley on a permanent basis, subject to EFL approval.

Thomas, who is 20, has joined the Tykes after an undisclosed fee was agreed for his services by both clubs.

The attacker spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Sky Bet League 1 side Coventry City, where he scored five times in 44 appearances.

Thomas joined Derby from Cheltenham Town in early 2016 and rose through the Academy ranks to make his first team bow in the 2017/18 campaign.

His professional debut came off the bench against Queens Park Rangers at Pride Park Stadium in November 2017, which was then followed by another substitute appearance in April 2018 at home to Bolton Wanderers.

Derby County would like to wish Luke well in his future career and thank him for his efforts.
