ACADEMY NEWS: McAndrew Signs Loan Deal with South Shields

Niall McAndrew has joined South Shields on loan until the end of the 2025/26 season.

The 18-year-old attacker will head out to the high-flying National League North side for their final seven matches.

McAndrew has started in the last three Premier League 2 matches for the Rams’ Under-21s since returning from a spell on the sidelines with injury, scoring a superb late goal in a 4-2 win against West Ham United at the start of March.

He will join fellow Under-21s attacker Lennon Wheeldon, who has made 24 appearances out on loan with the Mariners since joining back in November.

Both Derby Academy prospects will look to secure a promotion to their CVs with Shields, who currently sit second in the league after 39 matches, one point off leaders AFC Fylde.
