It’s been a whirlwind first season in professional football for young defender Jayden Bogle.

After being handed his professional debut by manager Frank Lampard against Oldham Athletic in the Carabao Cup back in August, the 18-year-old Academy product has made the right-back position his own.

His performances have drawn plaudits from pundits to spectators and his status amongst the best full-backs in the division has risen throughout the season.

He tops Derby County’s assist chart with eight assists and it’s also the most by a full back in the Sky Bet Championship this season.

It’s an impressive achievement by a teenager who has made 49 appearances so far this season.

His last outing was the dramatic 4-3 aggregate victory over Leeds United and his 50th appearance for the Rams could be in the Sky Bet Championship Final against Aston Villa.

I can’t put into words how it feels,” he admitted, speaking to RamsTV after the victory at Elland Road.

“It has been tough games when we have played them throughout the season but that’s what makes it so special right now.

“When it mattered, we delivered. I will take losing to them three times and take winning on this occasion.”

Wednesday’s win against Leeds United sees the Rams set up a Wembley final against Aston Villa.

The winner will play Premier League football next season.

“I can’t believe it,” Bogle said. “It’s what you dream of as a kid, playing in front of thousands and thousands of people and we have a great squad here.

“We haven’t given up and tonight it is special. It’s my first season and one that I will remember forever.”
