Derby County youngster Jason Knight earned his third cap for the Republic of Ireland Under-21s this weekend as they finished fourth in this year’s Maurice Revello Toulon Tournament.

The midfielder was named in the starting 11 and played for 75 minutes before being substituted for Wolves’ Connor Ronan.

The game would eventually finish goalless and needed to be settled via a penalty shootout which Mexico triumphed 4-3.

It has been a good learning curve for the youngster, who recently featured on the substitute’s bench for the Rams Play-Off Semi Final victory over Leeds United and the Final itself at Wembley Stadium against Aston Villa last month.

Knight made his debut for Stephen Kenny’s side in their 4-1 victory over China in the opening fixture of the competition, whilst he made his first start in the 1-0 win against Bahrain.
