Derby County had seven players away on international duty during the March international window.

Three players from Head Coach John Eustace’s squad jetted off with Ben Brereton Díaz (Chile), Patrick Agyemang (United States) and Sam Szmodics (Republic of Ireland) landing call-ups.

Academy players Cruz Allen (Wales Under-19s), Jack Thompson (England Under-20s), Sean Corry (Northern Ireland Under-19s) and Kacey Myers (Gibraltar Under-19s) were also handed the opportunity to impress for their countries.

Here’s a look at how Derby’s players got on during their time away on international duty:

Ben Brereton Díaz

Forward Brereton Díaz scored the opening goal for Chile in a 4-2 friendly win over Cape Verde at Eden Park on Friday 27th March – his 10th goal for La Roja. He also played the first 45 minutes in the Chileans’ second friendly of the break against hosts New Zealand, where the All Whites came out on top in a 4-1 reverse.

Sam Szmodics

Szmodics headed out with Heimir Hallgrímsson’s Republic of Ireland squad for their FIFA World Cup Qualifying Semi-Final match against Czechia. Szmodics featured from the bench in extra time in Prague, but had his game time, and international break cut short when he suffered a concussion that saw him taken off the field and returned home, following concussion protocol.

Patrick Agyemang

Agyemang featured in both of Mauricio Pochettino’s USMNT side for their final two friendly matches, in Atlanta, Georgia, ahead of hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the summer. Agyemang entered the field from the bench in both games, scoring against Belgium after coming on in the 72nd minute in a 5-2 defeat and then entering in the 47th minute against Portugal in a 2-0 reverse.

Jack Thompson

Goalkeeper Thompson linked up with the England Under-20 squad for the second time, having previously made appearances from Under-15 to Under-18 level for his nation. The Young Lions had one friendly match over the break, with Thompson on the bench, against Italy on Friday 27th March.

Cruz Allen

Wales Under-19s played a friendly against the United States on Saturday 28th March, with Allen starting for Cymru in a 4-0 reverse in Valencia, Spain.

Kacey Myers

Myers received his first call-up to the Gibraltar youth set-up, with the diminutive nation taking on three friendlies, and Myers was named in the starting line-up of each match. Gibraltar suffered defeats against Turkey, Kosovo and Armenia.

Sean Corry

Corry was with Northern Ireland Under-19s for their U19 Euro 2026 Elite Round Qualifiers.

Rams midfielder Corry started in a narrow 1-0 defeat to Ukraine and was on the bench for the Green and White Army in a goalless draw with Romania and a subsequent 1-0 win over Kazakhstan.
