Derby County full-back Max Lowe featured for England's Under-20s against Japan on Saturday in the Maurice Revello Toulon Tournament.

The defender, who spent last season on loan at Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen, came on as a 73rd minute substitute, replacing Leeds United’s Tom Pearce.

It was, however, a disappointing afternoon for the Young Lions who fell to a 2-1 defeat in their opening game of the competition.

Lowe almost helped to find an equaliser late in the game as he crossed from the left and found the head of Southampton’s Josh Simms, but his effort went over the crossbar.

Right-back Jayden Bogle, who made 50 appearances in all competitions for the Rams in the 2018/19 season, was an unused substitute for the Three Lions.

England, who are managed by former Derby County player and coach Paul Simpson, will be hoping for a response on Tuesday as they face Portugal.

Elsewhere, midfielder Duane Holmes has been named in the USA 28-man roster to face Jamaica on Wednesday.

Holmes could be in line for his first USA cap as they continue their preparations for the CONCACAF Gold Cup later this month.
