Phillip Cocu was pleased to see youngster Jayden Bogle make a timely return from injury in Derby County’s 3-2 home win against Birmingham City.

The 19-year-old Academy graduate came off the bench in the second half of the Rams’ victory against the Blues at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Bogle had been out of action for almost two months with an ankle injury sustained in the 0-0 draw at home to Swansea City in early August.

After resuming full training last week, Bogle returned to the matchday squad at the weekend.

The England Under-20 international entered the action after 72 minutes, coming on at right wing-back after Cocu switched to a three-man defence, and looked sharp on his comeback.

Speaking to RamsTV, Cocu said: “It was good that Jayden could play 20 minutes to get into the games again after just four training sessions with the group.

“These minutes are important to get in the game and we know his quality.

“Now it is up to him to progress and get stronger again to get back in the team.”

Since making his professional debut for Derby at the start of last season, Bogle has made 53 appearances for the Rams and scored twice.
