Young Derby County defender Lee Buchanan earned more valuable experience with England Under-19s on Tuesday afternoon.

The 18-year-old put in a solid display for the Young Lions and contributed an assist as they ran out 4-1 winners over Bosnia & Herzegovina Under-19s.

England found themselves 2-0 ahead at half-time courtesy of goals from Chelsea’s Tino Anjorin and Manchester United defender Ethan Laird.

Bosnia pulled a goal back soon after the break, however Manchester City defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis managed to restore the two-goal advantage.

Buchanan, who played the full game at left-back, provided the assist for England’s final goal of the afternoon as he found Everton’s Anthony Gordon to make it 4-1.

It capped off a good week for the Young Lions, who won all three of their fixtures in North Macedonia over the past week.

They defeated Luxemburg 4-0 in their opening fixture, whilst they put five past North Macedonia in a convincing victory before their final fixture.

Meanwhile, Academy winger Festy Ebosele featured for the Republic of Ireland Under-19s on Tuesday afternoon.

The 17-year-old played 90 minutes before being replaced by Alexander Gilbert, but it turned out to be a disappointing afternoon for the Irish as they missed out on qualification for the Elite Round.

They were beaten 2-0 by Austria and ended the game with nine men following the dismissals of Barry Coffey and Adam O’Reilly.
