Morgan Whittaker and Louie Sibley’s impressive progression has been realised as they have both been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for December.

The pair, who both started yesterday’s Emirates FA Cup Third Round victory over Premier League Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, were in good form for the club’s Under-23s last month.

Sibley scored three goals in as many games as Derby’s Under-23s finished top of Premier League 2 at the end of 2019.

He scored in the 3-3 draw against second-placed Chelsea, whilst he netted a brace against Southampton to end his year on a high as the Rams claimed top spot.

Whittaker, who only made one appearance for the Under-23s during the month, scored against the Saints in a comfortable 4-2 victory.

Both Sibley and Whittaker have been nominated alongside Brighton & Hove Albion’s Peter Gwargis, Leicester City’s Admiral Muskwe, anchester United’s Tahith Chong and Middlesbrough’s Isaiah Jones.

Should either Sibley or Whittaker win, they would be the second Rams player to claim the Player of the Month award this season as Jahmal Hector-Ingram scooped October’s award.

The winner will be announced on Friday 10th January 2020.
