Whilst circumstances currently mean there’s no live football to enjoy, dcfc.co.uk is delving into the archives to feature a photograph from Derby County’s illustrious history.

Derby County 4-2 Fulham (4th April 2017)

David Nugent is pictured here celebrating his second of three goals against Fulham at Pride Park Stadium three years ago today as the Rams defeated the Cottagers 4-2 in the Sky Bet Championship.

Johnny Russell, who is pictured running to catch up with him to celebrate, added the fourth goal.

It was the striker’s first hat-trick for the club and it came just three months after signing with the Rams from Middlesbrough. He lifted the ball into the net earlier on from Marcus Olsson’s pinpoint through ball just eight minutes into the game.

Floyd Ayite levelled the score midway through the half, but Nugent was there to quickly answer back. Immediately after seeing his penalty saved, he regained the lead with a spectacular volley.

His hat-trick was complete with 30 minutes still left to play when he tapped in his third, following a mistake in the Fulham defence, before Russell drilled in Derby’s fourth of the night.

Fulham’s Ayite added his second as a late consolation for the visiting side, but that didn't deny the Rams a memorable victory.
