Derby County’s Jayden Mitchell-Lawson has joined Sky Bet League 1 outfit Bristol Rovers on loan for the 2020/21 season.

The wideman’s loan move is his second at the Memorial Stadium after he initially linked up with Ben Garner’s side for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign in January of this year.

Mitchell-Lawson made 11 appearances for the Pirates in all competitions, scoring twice, before their season was ended in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He scored his first career goal in a 3-1 loss at Wycombe Wanderers in February and went on to fund the back of the net in a defeat by the same scoreline at Southend United at the beginning of March.

The 20-year-old, who joined Derby’s Academy at the age of 16 from Swindon Town, made his first team debut for the Rams in March 2019.

He came off the bench in Derby's goalless draw with Stoke City in the Sky Bet Championship under former manager Frank Lampard.

Mitchell-Lawson then followed up his first outing with a brief Carabao Cup Second Round appearance at the beginning of the 2019/20 season at Nottingham Forest under current boss Phillip Cocu.

His impressive form in the opening months of last season for Derby’s Under-23s, scoring two goals and adding five assists in 17 appearances, saw him move out on loan for the first time in his career to gain first-team experience.
