Derby County defender Mike te Wierik has re-joined Eredivisie side FC Groningen on a permanent basis.

The centre-back linked up with the Rams ahead of the 2020/21 season from the Dutch top-flight outfit as a free agent at the end of his contract.

After finding first-team opportunities hard to come by following his move to Pride Park Stadium, te Wierik made six appearances in a Derby shirt in the first half of the campaign.

The 28-year-old has now returned to his former side, where he made almost 100 appearances between 2017 and 2020, after an undisclosed agreement was reached between the two clubs.

Derby County would like to wish Mike every success in his future career and thank him for his efforts whilst with the club.
