Striker Luke Plange was delighted to play an instrumental role in Derby County’s 2-1 victory over league leaders Fulham at Pride Park Stadium.

The Rams had to come from behind to beat Marco Silva’s side as Fabio Carvalho gave the Cottagers the first half lead.

But, Derby turned the game on in the second half as Plange met a cross from Lee Buchanan to equalise in the opening five minutes, whilst he had a hand in the winning goal.

Skipper Tom Lawrence fired the ball into the box, it was attacked by Plange but was guided into his own goal by Toisin Adarabioyo to secure all three points for the Rams.

It kept Derby’s slim hopes of staying in the division alive for one more game at least, but Plange was pleased to enjoy the occasion of beating the league leaders.

“It’s been a while and when I got the goal I was over the moon,” he told RamsTV. “It’s been a few games since I scored and I want to do the best for the team and I’m delighted.

“In the first half, we weren’t doing bad and we were playing well, getting into the final third but not getting the end product, but in the second half we did better to get in the crosses and shots so that really helped us.

“All the points matter in every single game, so helping the team get three points is the main thing. We are going to keep going until the end and get as many points as we can to try and stay up in the division.

The Rams still sit nine points behind Reading who occupy the place above the relegation places with four games remaining.

But, Derby will continue to fight until the end and travel to Queens Park Rangers on Easter Monday knowing only victory will keep their hopes of staying in the division alive.

Wayne Rooney has been instrumental in the way the team is set up and Plange praised the manager in the way he has set up the side.

“He has installed it into us to keep fighting and the fans have been right behind us tonight and that helped us tonight,” he said.
