TEAM NEWS…

Manager Wayne Rooney has no fresh injury issues for the game but, after seeing the Rams relegated to Sky Bet League One on Easter Monday, he is likely to offer some match minutes to a handful of players that have been in and around the first-team squad from the Academy such as midfielder Louie Watson and striker Bartosz Cybulski.

Skipper Tom Lawrence will miss the game as a result of being sent off in the 1-0 loss at Queens Park Rangers on Bank Holiday Monday. He was dismissed for two bookings and as it was his second red card of the season, he must serve a two-match ban.

Midfielder Max Bird is back in the squad after missing the last three games for the red card he was handed in the 1-0 home win over Preston North End at the beginning of April.

Striker Colin Kazim-Richards will once again miss out after picking up an ankle injury in the side's 3-1 loss at Blackburn Rovers recently and is due to miss the rest of the season, although he is upping his workload with the medical team.

MANAGER'S THOUGHTS…

Manager Wayne Rooney offered his pre-match views to RamsTV on Friday in the lead-up to the clash with Nigel Pearson's side.

“I’m obviously sad, disappointed and frustrated that we have gone down but we have to remain positive,” Rooney said.

“As I said after the game on Monday, there are so many positives to take out of this season. We have three games left, there will be a couple of changes tomorrow, and we will do everything we can to win the matches that we’ve got left.

“This gives me an opportunity to look at a couple of the younger players in terms of preparing for next season.

“What is important is that we finish the season with a bit of momentum going into the close season and we take it into next season. Every game is an important one; there are things you can take from it and my mentality and mindset is to try and win every game and I know that’s the players’ as well.”

He added: “There is always something to play for and we want to win. I’ve said to the players this morning, when I see them every day in training - tackling, putting their bodies around and working hard - I’ve no worries that they will do that in the remaining three games.

“Of course, there will be changes and opportunities for the fans to see a couple of the young players who have been in and around the first team squad and they can get some minutes. I hope they get right behind them because it’s always a big moment.”

FROM THE DRESSING ROOM…

Midfielder Liam Thompson spoke to RamsTV ahead of the Rams' meeting with the Robins.

“We will approach it like we always do and we want to win games,” he said. “I’m sure the fans will still be right behind us and fill the ground up.

“We just want to continue putting in good performances, winning games and enjoying it as much as we can.”

MATCH OFFICIALS…

Thomas Bramall will oversee Saturday afternoon's match at Pride Park Stadium.

Bramall has overseen 30 games so far this season in all competitions, showing 96 yellow cards and six red cards.

Bramall will be assisted by Nick Greenhalgh and Akil Howson on the lines, whilst Geoff Eltringham has been appointed as the fourth official.

EFL SUBSTITUTE RULES…

The five substitutions rule has been scrapped for the 2021/22 season, the English Football League confirmed in July.

The rule allowing clubs to make five changes, as opposed to the usual three, was brought in following football's restart in June 2020 after a break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Given that games had to be condensed into a short period of time it was thought beneficial and allowed managers to make as many as five changes in three intervals during a match.

Clubs had a longer post-break between seasons this time around and so the temporary rule has been changed.

Teams will be able to name seven substitutes but only use a maximum of three.

STREAMING INFORMATION…

With COVID-19 capacity restrictions lifted and EFL fixtures being played in front of full crowds once again, the temporary change in streaming rules is no longer valid.
