Derby County’s reigning Jack Stamps Player of the Season Curtis Davies has signed a new contract.

The central defender has signed a new one-year deal which will run to the summer of 2023.

The news comes as a significant boost for Derby as plans for the 2022/23 Sky Bet League One season continue to gather pace.

Davies was a key component of the side in the 2021/22 season as the Rams fought against the many obstacles that were placed in front of them to try and retain their Championship status.

The 37-year-old recovered from a serious achilles injury to play every single minute of Derby’s 46 league matches and his influence, both on and off the field, proved to be crucial.

Davies’ performances saw him named as the Jack Stamps Player of the Season by the Rams’ supporters, while he also claimed the Supporters’ Club and Punjabi Rams accolades.

Signing a new deal means Davies will now enter a sixth season at Pride Park Stadium after initially joining the club from Hull City in the summer of 2017.

He has gone on to record 151 appearances for the Rams since then and impressively surpassed the 600 mark in club football last season.

Davies’ experience, both in the Premier League and Championship, is set to be vital as Derby prepare for life in the third tier since the mid-1980s.
