Derby County Community Trust’s Active Choices Social was visited by Derby County captain Curtis Davies and goalkeeper Scott Loach this week, as the programme continues to celebrate its ten year anniversary.

The substance and alcohol misuses rehabilitation programme has supported over 1,000 participants in their recovery and abstinence since 2012, and has marked its milestone year with a number of events, including a penalty shoot-out at Pride Park Stadium and a visit to St George’s Park.

Davies and Loach were invited down to the new Harrison’s Hub at the Community Centre to continue the ten year activity, to meet current participants engaged with the project. The new stadium-based venue is opening its doors to a number of community-based projects.

The pair chatted and took photos with participants before hosting a question and answer session, answering a range of questions on topics ranging from shirts they have collected to how they think the season is going, as well as their careers as a whole.

In addition to taking in the end of South Korea Vs Ghana game in the 2022 FIFA World Cup World Cup, the session ended with a general knowledge quiz - which was won by Davies!

Adam Rowley, Programme Lead, said: “It was great to have Curtis and Scott join us at the session. Everyone loved having them there and they were so open and honest answering all the questions. They took their time to talk to everyone and it meant a lot to the people there and it was appreciated.

“I assume they enjoyed they enjoyed the quiz as well, especially Curtis coming out as the winner!”
