Post-Match Verdict: Nathaniel Mendez-Laing Vs Bolton Wanderers (H)

Derby County's Nathaniel Mendez-Laing says there is absolutely 'no doubt' that the first goal of the afternoon against Bolton Wanderers was his.

The winger's strike was initially put down as an own-goal before being changed to his sixth of the season.

Speaking to RamsTV after the match, Mendez-Laing put the debate to bed and spoke about the confidence of the side after they extended their unbeaten run.

On his goal...

It was 100% my goal. There's no doubt about it. The ball has gone exactly where I want it to go. I don't know why it's in question but three points we take that all day.

On the result...

It's massive. We know we need to start beating these bigger teams and the teams that are there and there abouts. It's a good marker to set out and the boys are buzzing in there that we've kept this run going - it does a lot for the confidence of all the players.

On the confidence in the group...

There's a fine line between arrogance and confidence and I think with the squad we've got, the quality and the run that we're on, that does a lot for us confidence wise.

When we're lining up to go out, yes we are really confident but we know that we have to go out there and perform so when we get on that pitch regardless of anything else we have to turn up and perform. If someone beats us and we've give it our all then fair play.

On the work ethic...

We run for each other. I see the running that Knighty does every game and whether he's running for me to close down my men - we're all pulling in the same direction. If that's what it takes to get us the three points then we've all got to do it for each other.

On Tom Barkhuizen...

He's in a great run of form, scoring goals and creating goals. I'm buzzing for him as well because I know it gets to him when he's not amongst it. Even the boys that came on, Dobs and Tony - we've got good players in all areas now and there's good competition for places.
