Derby County midfielder Max Bird says the squad had a 'long debrief' following the Fleetwood Town defeat last weekend - and insists they are keen to put things right when they head to Peterborough United on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

Bird made his first start after returning from a groin injury at the end of January against the Cod Army and has revealed everyone is eager to get back to winning ways against the Posh.

The Vice-Captain and Academy graduate sat down with RamsTV to preview the weekend trip to Cambridgeshire.

On his return to the squad...

It was good to be back on the pitch at Pride Park against Fleetwood but also not good to be back on the pitch in a way because of how we played.

The performance we put on was unacceptable. We knew it was going to be a tough game but the way we started and how it went wasn't to our standards, nowhere near our standards.

We had a long chat about it as a squad on Monday and put it to one side and training Tuesday was very good and very tough - we got a bit of our mojo back.

On how the debrief works...

We're all in it together. Everyone at the club has the same ambition and goal at the end of the season. The boss is big on us all talking together as a group, it's not just them telling us what went wrong.

We're getting ready to put it right, we want a big reaction at the weekend because it's a big game, like every one is now.

On reflecting on positives such as the unbeaten run...

We had a video shown to us today about how good we are in possession during that run between October and February and on Tuesday we had a video shown to us showing how good we are out of possession.

When everyone is on it we feel like we're one of the best teams in the league and the manager says that a lot. On our day we can beat anyone and we've got to get back to believing that and everyone sticking together. You're going to have tough times in a season, it's not always going to be plain sailing but we know what we need to do now.

On his injury...

First of all, I had to get my head around being injured. I haven't had a serious injury like that since I was around 15. I had to get my head around that and sort my mindset out. I was so focused in rehabilitation, the medical team were brilliant with me and were probably a bit fed up with me by the end!

I sat with Richard Stearman and the analysis guys at the home games and saw them from a different perspective. It was different and I was still going into the changing room and saying my piece. I think it was more about me developing as a person and a leader. Whether I was vice-captain or not I would have still gone into the changing room and said what I had to say. Whether it's the young lads or the senior lads; I just wanted to show my perspective from from a different point of view.

On Peterborough United...

Every game is important now, no matter who we play. We take each one as it comes and we need to get back to what we were doing in that unbeaten run a few months ago. We just need to try and win every game, that's it and we'll see where we end up.
