Derby County’s Under-21s will face National League North side Buxton FC at Pride Park Stadium on Wednesday night in Derbyshire Senior Cup Final.

Derby's Under-21s In The Senior Cup...

Derby's Under-21s have not been short of drama in their 2022/23 Derbyshire Senior Cup campaign.


Pat Lyons' side were 4-0 winners at Graham Street Prims in the Third Round to get the ball rolling on what was a stress-free An early goal from defender Rhys Brailsford put the Rams in the driving seat, while Jake Rooney, George Nunn and Lennon Wheeldon added further second half strikes to seal a comfortable victory.


A chaotic 5-5 draw at Alfreton Town followed in the Quarter Finals before the Rams eventually won on penalties. The Rams were 5-2 down with 88 minutes on the clock but two fine strikes from Kido Taylor-Hart, which saw him complete his hat-trick, and a header in the very last second of the game from Darren Robinson saw the tie go to penalties and five flawless spot-kicks from Lyons’ side followed to complete the most incredible turnaround.


Derby went to be victorious in their Semi-Final at Belper Town as Lyons' side claimed a 3-2 win. A brace from midfielder Osazee Aghatise, who was later sent off, and a second half strike from winger Carlos Richards ensured Lyons' side progressed to the Final.

The Derbyshire County Football Association Senior Cup is a local county football cup for teams based in the county of Derbyshire and was founded in 1883-1884.


The cup is the county competition for all clubs playing in the National League System.

Teams playing at Step 5 to Step 7 enter in Round 1 and clubs at Step 4 up to Step 1 and the professional game enter at Round 3.

Derby County last won the cup in the 2010/11 season when a Rams XI took part

in the competition, with their previous victory coming for the 'A' side in the 1950s.
