Derby County Head Coach Paul Warne says he will enjoy being back in the play-off places in Sky Bet League One for a short period of time - but then it's full focus on preparing for the visit of Portsmouth to Pride Park Stadium next week.

The Rams' 1-0 victory over Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon, secured by a second half penalty from David McGoldrick, ensured they moved back into the top six on home turf with just two games remaining of the season.

Warne gave his thoughts on what was a big three points when he spoke to RamsTV.

On the win...

I thought we controlled the game really well apart from the chance we gave them in the first half from our own ineptitude.

Didzy was unplayable at times, the two 'number tens' were excellent and Birdy and Conor Hourihane gave us a real balance.

The longer the game went on, the more chances we created and in the end we won by a penalty but I don't think anyone could have left the ground today and not thought we deserved the win.

The place was bouncing it felt like a play-off game at times and it ended up in my opinion, a really good performance from the boys.

On the front three...

We're just trying to ask defenders different questions and with the two 'number tens' that are really good footballers it can make it awkward for the opposition.

We wanted to try and get Sibs a bit higher up the pitch and with Nat it gives him less defensive responsibilities although I think he's covered his greatest distance today.

It felt like every time we counter-attacked it was a problem for them so we can go home tonight really pleased and the league table looks a lot nicer for us.

On being back in the top six...

I saw the scores at half-time I won't pretend I didn't. The fact we got a win and one of those in and around it hasn't won is big but I'll have about three minutes enjoying it and then I'll start watching Portsmouth's clips and seeing what we're going to do against them.

It's been a really good day and it's been kind with the results but Portsmouth at home and Sheffield Wednesday away isn't exactly the easiest of ends to a season, but if you're going to be successful you have to beat these teams because if you don't there's no point in being in them.
