Derby County will round off 2023 when they travel to Oxford United in Sky Bet League One action on Friday evening (7:45pm kick-off).

The Rams go into the match against one of their top six rivals off the back of an impressive 1-0 victory at Wigan Athletic on Boxing Day, which made it seven wins and one draw in their last eight league outings to make further inroads at the top end of the table.

In the lead-up to the game getting underway, dcfc.co.uk has brought together all the key information you need to know...

Team News

Midfielder Korey Smith (knee) and striker Conor Washington (ankle) remain out of action until the New Year after sustaining injuries in November.

Striker Martyn Waghorn (calf) is making good progress on the road to recovery but will likely remain out of action until after the festive period.

Long-term absentees Jake Rooney (knee) and Elliot Embleton (quad) remain ruled out of action for the foreseeable future.

Pre-Match Thoughts

Head Coach Paul Warne spoke to RamsTV after the 1-0 win at Wigan and previewed the trip to Oxford.

He said: "We'll watch Oxford's games through and see how we can stop them, first and foremost because they are a good team, and work out how we think we can beat them too.

"I said to the lads before the Wigan game: 'we haven't turned up for a point, we've come for a win' and that's the same mentality we will have against Oxford."

Goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith spoke to RamsTV to preview Friday evening's trip to Oxford.

He said: "We want to get three points and move in the right direction going into the New Year. We want to put ourselves in a really good position to show everyone that Derby County are here and we're up for the challenge."

Derby's allocation of tickets for the trip to Oxford have sold out.

Derby were handed a total allocation of 1,497 tickets for the match and these have now completely sold out. No further tickets will be made available.
