Head Coach Paul Warne says his Derby County squad will be travelling to Oxford United on Friday evening with the full intention of picking up another three points.

The Rams have taken 22 points from a possible 24 over the course of the last eight games in Sky Bet League One and the Head Coach is keen to keep the run going in their final outing of 2023.

Warne did, however, admit that he may have to shuffle the pack against Oxford due to the short amount of time between the games on the Rams' fixture list over the festive period.

Speaking to RamsTV after the 1-0 win at Wigan Athletic on Boxing Day, Warne looked ahead to a tough trip to Oxfordshire to take on a side that also occupies a top six spot and were also 2-1 winners at Pride Park Stadium when the teams met back in August.

"We can't pick the same team for three games," he explained.

"That's just the dynamic of our squad. It doesn't become weaker, though, it just becomes different.

"We'll watch Oxford's games through closely and see how we can stop them first and foremost because they are a good team and how work on how we think we can beat them.

"I said to the lads before Wigan: 'we haven't turned up for a point, we've come for a win' and that's the same against Oxford.

"We want to win as many matches as we can and if on the way we lose a few, so be it."

He added: "We will probably shuffle the pack a little bit but there was some amazing performances at Wigan and I didn't really want to make a change in-game because sometimes you don't know if you'll make it worse or better.

"All in all, we'll build the lads up with a smile on their face for Friday night and hopefully if we perform at that level then we'll get a positive result. That's our plan."
