Derby County Women midfielder Molly Sutherland has joined Loughborough Lightning.

Sutherland joined the Ewes’ squad ahead of the 2022/23 season and she went on to play 24 times in her first year with the club, scoring twice.

Her performances saw the now 21-year-old handed the Young Player of the Season accolade at Derby’s End of Season Awards Night last May.

She took her new form into the start of the 2023/24 season by scoring the side’s first goal of the campaign in the 2-1 opening day home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

After playing 39 times, and scoring three goals, Sutherland has elected to make the move to FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands promotion-chasers Loughborough.

Derby County would like to wish Molly well for the future and thank her for her efforts whilst representing the club.
