Head Coach Paul Warne believes Derby County 'can be better' but, fundamentally, the most important thing was the victory in their 3-2 success against Burton Albion on Monday night.

A stoppage time winner from skipper Conor Hourihane ensured the Rams saw off near neighbours Burton Albion at Pride Park Stadium and move to within one point of the summit of Sky Bet League One.

Tom Barkhuizen and James Collins had put Derby two goals to the good before the Brewers hit back with two goals to equalise midway through the second half.

Speaking to RamsTV after the match, Warne gave his verdict on the performance.

On how he's feeling after the result...

I feel a lot older! I'm really proud of the fact we won. I'm just disappointed that, at 2-0, we should be better than that. Fair play to Burton; they got a sniff of blood and goals change games and they got that. The second goal we conceded is unforgivable and I felt we lost a bit of our edge. I don't think we puffed our chests out enough to just get back to how we were playing, but we did certainly create enough chances to win the game in the end. It felt amazing on the side of the pitch when Conor got the winner but it felt like one of those nights where it wasn't going to happen for us, so I was pleased when the referee finally blew for full-time.

You need to average two points a game and we've got back to that. Hopefully we can pick up points again at the weekend when we head to Lincoln that keeps us in the ascendancy. I am pleased with large parts of the game, but also disappointed with a percentage.

On Conor Hourihane's late winner...

I was really pleased and really pleased with the first goal tonight as well, I have to say that. For the captain to get the winner, I'm really happy. He's a brilliant professional that tries to do everything right to get himself in the best shape he can be in. He's always been available since I've been here and he's a great leader. For him to score, it seemed fitting.

On whether the complacency worries him...

I don't think complacency worries me, it was a couple of bad decisions that we got punished on. I don't think the group went off it, I think more-so the group lost confidence at 2-2 and it wasn't complacency. Even in that time, Josh Vickers didn't make a save. We just weren't as fluid as we were earlier in the game.

On closing the gap on the top two...

We're averaging two points a game, which I'm obsessed with, so the lads keep going. We won tonight; we can be better but we won. Fundamentally at the end of the season we don't want to live with regret. We won, that's all I'm pleased with.
