Derby County Women’s squad has been bolstered with the addition of two fresh faces in the last few weeks.

Midfielder Helena Meadows was first through the door in early January and she was quickly thrown into action in the Adobe FA Cup Fourth Round tie at home to Leicester City a few days later.

She was named in the starting line-up against the Women’s Super League side and produced a battling display in the middle of the park, while she produced a Player of the Match display at left-back in last weekend’s 5-0 National League Plate Quarter Final success at Sutton Coldfield Town.

Meadows, previously with Southampton, is currently studying at University in Nottingham and has also represented their Women’s side. After spending a period training with the Ewes’ squad, she agreed to put pen-to-paper.

Next through the door was Dolcie O’Connor, who joined the Ewes’ squad this week, on a dual-registration basis.

The forward, who is on the books of Manchester City’s Academy, spent the first half of this season with Huddersfield Town gaining match experience.

O’Connor could make her debut in Sunday’s FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division clash at West Bromwich Albion (3pm kick-off).
