Derby County’s out-on-loan striker Dajaune Brown has been named as the Vanarama National League's Player of the Month for March.

The 18-year-old enjoyed a month of firsts in March after making the move north on loan for the rest of the season in January.

He kicked off a busy month of action by netting his first senior goal with an injury-time equaliser at Boreham Wood.

Brown then added his first senior hat-trick to his tally inside the first 22 minutes of Gatehead’s Isuzu FA Trophy Quarter Final win over Peterborough Sports, before returning to league action by scoring the winner against Dagenham & Redbridge three days later.

The Academy graduate then started three consecutive victories over Altrincham, Hartlepool United and Rochdale, scoring another three goals to take his tally to eight goals and four assists in eight appearances across all competitions.

"It was a great feeling to find out that I’d been voted as Player of the Month by both the fans and the league, and to be recognised for what I’m doing," said Brown.

"I’ve had a pretty good month with the amount of goals that I could contribute to the team, and to help us win some games.

"I feel like I’ve been doing well and doing what I know I can do, and it’s been a help having the team supporting me and pushing me to excel."

Brown, who is a second-year scholar at Derby and signed his first professional contract last summer, made his senior bow earlier in the campaign ahead of heading out on loan.

Brown was excellent form at Academy level before moving to Gateshead, scoring six times in nine appearances for the Under-21s in Premier League 2 as well as being a regular on the scoresheet in both the Central League and Central League Cup with eight in just four appearances.

He also scored six times in six appearances for the Under-18s in the Under-18 Premier League, Premier League Cup and FA Youth Cup combined.

Brown, after spending pre-season with the first team squad last summer, has played five times for Paul Warne’s side in total. He made his first senior start in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy Group Stage win over Wolverhampton Wanderers Under-21s in November.
