Owen Beck admits it was a ‘no-brainer’ to reunite with Head Coach John Eustace as he signed on a season-long loan deal at Derby County.

The Liverpool defender spent last season out on loan in the Sky Bet Championship with Blackburn Rovers, where he was managed by Eustace, before the Head Coach switched to the Rams in February 2025.
In previous seasons, Beck has also had loan experience with Portuguese side Famalicão, Sky Bet League One outfit Bolton Wanderers and Scottish Premiership side Dundee.
The left-back has made 65 senior appearances in his career since rising through the Liverpool youth ranks, including 24 in the second tier for Blackburn last season and three for his parent club across the Premier League and Carabao Cup.
He will once again be under the tutelage of Eustace when he wears the Ram on his chest, after penning a loan deal that will run for the duration of the 2025/26 season.
Beck spoke to RamsTV after making the loan switch to Pride Park Stadium.
Obviously, I know the gaffer well from last year. I spoke to him with that experience of working with him before in mind. It moved pretty fast and was a no-brainer for me.

We built a really good connection. I feel like he got the best out of me. When he called up and we had that conversation again where he was looking to bring me in, it was a no-brainer, really!
I enjoyed playing under him. As I said, I feel like he got the best out of me. I feel like he can get even more out of me this season, and I can push that step further.

It's a really tough league that has a lot of quality. There are no easy games in the league. It was good for me to be playing at this level week in, week out last season. I feel like I had a good season. I feel like I can take it that step further and show everyone what I'm really about.

I think the main thing is doing my job going forward and defensively. I'd say they're both as important as each other. Defensively, I like to win my 1v1 duels and always come out on top.
Going forward, I like to get goals and assists. That'll be one of my main targets this year, to make sure I succeed in that area. It's definitely somewhere where I feel like I can improve on from last year.

First and foremost, I want to play games. I want to play and stay injury-free. In the game, I'm going to set myself personal goals. Also, I'm sure the gaffer will have goals that he wants the team to achieve. Hopefully, I can hit my personal goals and help the team achieve theirs too.
